Triton of the Sea - Episode 6

"Go to the Southern Island!"

Triton tells Pipi that Proteus is dead, and she must go to the
South with them. Pipi says that the Oriharucon dagger could have
protected (awkward transl.) and blames him for the death of the
sea lions. She screams to give them back as Morsejellies tap,
"Triton is heading South..." In a large Greek-looking city under
the sea, Marcuses tell an unseen Poseidon that the two Triton
have left the North Sea. Poseidon tells them to get Poripeimos
to help Doriate and Minodarth kill the Triton.

A shark-headed man arrived at Doriate's ship base, where Minodarth
also sits. This is Poripeimos. The three discuss the Triton and
the red dagger, and Poripeimos says that the Triton never
used to use weapons in the old days. Minodarth says that it may
be the legendary Oriharucon dagger, but Poripeimos shrugs that
danger off (it's still wielded by a mere child). Doriate warns
him that the effort won't be that easy. Poripeimos calls his
angler monster to deal with Triton.

(He looks like a MOTU figure...9 years ahead of his time).

At the island, Pipi complains about having to eat shellfish,
and Triton attempts to build a fire to roast some nuts. After
some histronics, Triton starts up a torch, which scares Pipi.

She screams at him to stop shaking the red thing, as it looks
too much like the red light of the Oriharucon dagger. Triton
realizes Pipi has never seen fire before, and apologized to her,
going to get some coconuts. Pipi wonders about her tail, and
Luka tells her that she will have feet when she grows up. This
doesn't please Pipi at all, and she is also disgusted when Triton
eats a coconut.
The next morning, Ero, Karo and Fin arrive, and hear the sound of
the anglerfish. Triton is awakened and told about the angler
monster. He moans that no matter where they go, the Poseidon follow.

The Anglerfish, "broadcasting"

The sound waves of the anglerfish begin to hurt Pipi, and she screams at Triton to use the Oriharucon to kill the monster. Triton wraps a cross-shaped stick in seaweed.

Triton tells Ero and Karo to use wrapped sticks as lures to lure
the anglerfish away. The anglerfish follows the dolphins as Triton,
Fin, Luka and Pipi run away from the island and hide underwater. Pipi
complains about this, and Triton tells her that they are hiding so
that the angler can't find them by sonar.

The anglerfish eats the decoys, but Pipi leaves the group and is
detected by the angler. Triton tells Luka to go to the bottom of the
sea, and Pipi yells that he just has to use his dagger on the thing.
The group dives downward and upward in a re-use of the attack that
killed Salamandara, and the angler is killed.

Later, Triton tells the group that Pipi was right - they shouldn't just rely on the Oriharucon dagger. The group heads for the South Sea, as Morsejellies signal to Poseidon...

COMMENTS

--"Poripeimos" (trans. from Tezuka's English site) is most likely
from Polyphemos, a Cyclops from Homer's Odyessy. (What a cyclops
has to do with a shark-headed guy, no one knows.)
