Triton of the Sea - Episode 23

"The Battle in the Fossil Forest"

The gang moves steadily toward Madagascar and Rakan the immortal
fish.

Meanwhile, Pluda and his sea centipede Seinus prepare to face
Triton...

Rakan the coelecanth is being teased by some barracudi, envious
of his immortality. Turns out he doesn't like it too much. Seeing
a Morsejelly signaling Poseidon about Triton, he kills it. Maybe with
a Triton member his death wish can come true...

Ero becomes "friends" with some seagulls, who tell him that the
sea centipede is around. They decide to find Rakan ASAP.

Going underwater, they find Rakan. Triton tells him about
Heptapoda and asks about the secrets of the Triton. Rakan asks
for evidence. Suddenly, Pluda approaches (Rakan scolds Triton for
not hearing the sound in the water).

Realizing that Pluda brought a friggin giant centipede to face
Triton, Rakan reconsiders the possibility that Triton may be the
real deal. He remembers when he was made immortal (he apparently
helped Heptapoda escape once before) by Poseidon. Poseidon tells
him that the only ones who can grant him his eternal sleep are the
Triton.

Pluda attacks Triton with his boomerangs and his big centipede.
The Oriharucon destroys one of the centipede's tusks, letting Triton
escape. Pluda comments that he can't believe that little light killed
Almon.

Rakan guides Triton to a cave filled with "statues" of dead
Triton people. Turns out they are actual corpses - somehow the
chemicals in the water kept the people from disintegrating. Rakan
asks for help being released, but comments that the Triton shouldn't
have had the power to release him - they didn't even have weapons.
Triton shows Rakan the Oriharucon dagger, and Rakan corrects himself.

The Triton HAD weapons, but didn't know how to use them. The Triton may have only thought the Oriharucon was a treasure from Atlantis. The Poseidon had to destroy them before the weapon could actually be used.

The battle went on for thousands of years, but the Triton were
"wiped out" only 10 years ago. The last battle was in the Atlantic,
and if Triton goes there he can find out the truth about his parents.

Rakan asks for release, but Luka stops Triton from using the dagger-
the release will kill Rakan. Suddenly, angler bleeps approach. Pluda
(using 2 centipedes, manta rays, and anglers) attacks.

Pluda plans to exhaust Triton so he cannot use the Oriharucon dagger. He attacks Triton, but Rakan interferes (and must be blinded). Finally, the Oriharucon energy is exhausted - but Triton, using Rakan as a shield, kills Pluda.

The Oriharucon energy kills the two centipedes, and Rakan in the process.

Why did the Poseidon want to kill the Triton before they could use the Oriharucon dagger? They again set off for the Atlantic tofind out the secrets...
